Lindsey & Matt

Lindsey LaBorwit and Matthew Perlmutter’s Wedding

at Woodmont Country Club

Lindsey LaBorwit and Matthew Perlmutter gathered with family and friends at Woodmont Country Club on September 21, 2024, to celebrate a love story that had been unfolding long before they ever said, "I do."

Lindsey and Matt grew up just minutes apart in Potomac, Maryland, their lives overlapping in ways they wouldn’t fully realize until years later. Their great-grandparents were doctors together at Sibley Hospital, their grandparents were jewelers in Washington, D.C., and their mothers attended Churchill High School together. “They all knew each other. They even went on double dates back in the day. So when we finally met and became friends, our moms thought it was the craziest thing,” Lindsey says.

Although their families had been connected for generations, their love story was entirely their own. They met in high school but went to college in different states—Lindsey to Indiana University, Matt to the University of Maryland. By junior year, the connection became undeniable. After two years of long-distance dating, they reunited in Washington, D.C., ready to build a future together.

A Proposal Full of Surprise

Matt’s proposal was carefully orchestrated, designed to take Lindsey by complete surprise. Lindsey had always envisioned a mountain engagement with their families present, but Matt convinced her it would have to happen at home to include everyone. She had no reason to expect a surprise on their Park City, Utah, trip with his family. What she didn’t know was that Matt had secretly arranged for both of her parents—along with their respective spouses—to fly in. They arrived separately and stayed hidden until the proposal at the St. Regis Deer Valley.

“I was completely thrown,” she says. “I thought I had it all figured out. Turns out, he had been listening to me all along.”

A Wedding of Timeless Elegance

The ceremony featured a Ketubah signing, where close family members shared words before Lindsey and Matt exchanged vows. “Hearing our parents speak before the ceremony was something we’ll never forget,” Lindsey says.

She walked down the aisle in the Alma Dress by Dana Harel, a mermaid-style gown embroidered with pearls and sequins. Its 90s-inspired straight neckline and delicate pearl straps struck the perfect balance of modern and timeless. She paired it with a Dana Harel veil, Aquazzura pearl white heels, and heirloom jewelry from her mother-in-law.

Finding the dress was unexpectedly effortless. A friend urged her to attend a Dana Harel trunk show at Mark Ingram Atelier in New York. “I didn’t even know where to start, but the first dress I put on, I knew. Dana Harel told me she designed it with someone like me in mind. That was it.”

Bridesmaids wore sleek silver gowns, each choosing a style that suited them. Matt opted for a black double-breasted tuxedo, while his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with bow ties.

An Unforgettable Celebration

The reception at Woodmont Country Club was a seamless mix of elegance and celebration. Edge Florals created lush arrangements, while a five-tier white floral wedding cake served as a stunning centerpiece. Dessert included key lime pie, New York-style cheesecake, and mini espresso martinis served with ice cream cones on the dance floor.

Live music from LA Starz set the tone. “We wanted it to feel like the best party we’ve ever thrown,” Matt says.

Later in the night, Lindsey made a quick switch into a silk slip dress from Janet Mandel in New York, a last-minute decision after realizing the weight of her gown. “I had said, ‘I’m not wearing a second dress. I’m so in love with my wedding dress. I want to wear it all night.’ But at my fitting, the tailor told me, ‘You’ll end up in the hospital. It will break your back. You need to find a second dress.’”

Capturing every moment was Michael Kress, who, in a serendipitous turn, had photographed Matt’s family years ago. “Working with Michael was an absolute dream. He not only brought our vision to life with stunning, timeless photos but also made the entire process fun and effortless. On the wedding day, his calming presence allowed us to truly relax and soak in every moment, knowing he was capturing it all beautifully. We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer.”

Looking Ahead

Matt, who works in Real Estate Private Equity, and Lindsey, who manages Corporate Wellness programming, are settling into their new home in Bethesda, Maryland, with their puppy, Louie. “For now, he’s our baby,” Lindsey laughs. “But we know this is just the beginning.”

Their wedding wasn’t just a day—it was a full-circle moment, a celebration of a love that had always been there, waiting for the right time.
